My body in the 2nd week of pregnancy

Trimester 1 of your pregnancy

During this week, your body prepares to ovulate. About 20 of your eggs will develop inside fluid-filled sacs known as follicles. Usually, only one of the follicles will develop to the point where it ruptures, allowing the egg to travel down the fallopian tube to meet the sperm.

Once an egg is released from an ovary, it must be fertilized by a sperm within 12 to 24 hours for conception to occur. (If more than one follicle ruptures, you could have twins, triplets, or more!)
